Zero Excuse works without an account: most of what you share with the app stays on your phone. This page explains exactly what leaves it, and why.

Who is responsible

The app is published by Elysio Manuel Martins, 11 rue Saint-Thibault, 77160 Provins, France (see the legal notice). Contact: support@zeroexcuse.fr.

What stays on your phone

Your first name (optional), goals, onboarding answers, chosen intensity, themes, favorites, streak, daily commitments, your own lines and reminder settings are stored only on your device, to pick and personalize lines. We have no server that receives them.

The widget reads the same information on your device, through storage shared between the app and its widget. Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your phone: no data is sent to deliver them.

What leaves your phone, and to whom

Subscriptions: Apple and RevenueCat

Payments are processed by Apple: we never see your payment details. To know whether your Premium subscription is active, the app uses RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc., United States), which receives:

a random identifier created by the app (it doesn't identify you);
your purchase and subscription history (product, date, price, country, currency), provided by Apple;
your answer to “How did you hear about us?” and your chosen goals, to measure which channels bring subscribers.

Legal basis: performance of the contract (giving you Premium access) and our legitimate interest in measuring our channels. Transfers to the United States rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and/or the Data Privacy Framework.

Analytics: PostHog

To learn what works and where people get stuck (onboarding steps, plan views, widget installs, feature use), the app sends anonymous events to PostHog (PostHog Inc., data hosted in the United States). They are tied to a random identifier created by the app, with technical details (device model, iOS and app version, language) and your settings (goals, intensity, whether you're subscribed, how you heard about us). Never the text you type: not your first name, your commitments or your own lines. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in improving the app. Transfers to the United States rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and/or the Data Privacy Framework.

App updates: Expo

At launch, the app may check with Expo's servers (650 Industries, Inc., United States) whether an update of its content is available. This request includes technical information (IP address, device model and app version) needed to deliver the right update.

What we don't do

No advertising, no selling of data.
No tracking across apps and websites (no advertising identifier).
No account, no email required.

Retention

Data on your phone is deleted when you delete the app. Subscription data at RevenueCat is kept for the duration of your subscription, then as long as our legal and accounting obligations require.

Your rights

You can request access, correction, deletion or portability of your data, or object to its processing, by writing to support@zeroexcuse.fr. You can also contact your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL).
